Kievits Kroon’s chef shares recipe on National Brownie Day
Brownies were first baked in America in the 1800s. Three myths that have gained popularity over the years, regarding the creation of the brownie:
* A chef accidentally added melted chocolate to biscuit dough
* A cook forgot to add flour to the batter
* A housewife did not have baking powder and improvised with this new treat

Recipe
1kg white sugar
12 eggs
750g dark chocolate
750g butter
480g cake flour
Method:
Melt the butter and dark chocolate in a double boiler
Whisk the eggs and sugar until pale in colour
Add the chocolate and butter into the egg and sugar mixture
Fold in the flour
Bake for 45 minutes on 180 C
